Camerlife is an app dedicated to the cameroonian culture and lifestyle. The app was launched by a group of entrepreneurs from Cameroon with the aim of releasing a alternative of the genre that is better adapted to the needs of a community. Here I'll share my impressions of the app with you. The app's interface is what we can call old fashion. I think it is a bit too sober (maybe that's what they were aiming for..). But above all they didn't respect Google's rules about material design that is characterise by colors, cards, dinamic shadows that interweave with animations. With this the app will be minimalist, flat and above all modern and we can't say camerlife has all of that. When you open the app a song from a playlist plays in the background. The idea is not bad but i'll would have like it to let us decide wether or not we want it to play a song whenever we open it but it goes without saying that the app doesn't even have a setting page. This can be troublesome especially if you found yourself in a silent place (library, restaurant etc) and then you open the app it plays a song thereby by breaking the silence directing all eyes on you... . The app is divided into 8 categories which according to the founders encompass the lives of Cameroonians in one click : -Camersocial : The social part of the app that functions as a basic social network app. You can post pictures, text, videos, music, files and locations, you can follow and get follow create a page and like pages and many more. -CamerGossip : I think here you comment on what is happening in the country or you gossip ? -Camerplace : A directory for hubs in the country such as hotels, restaurants, bars etc. -MyPosition : One that I still don't understand it use. Actually it just show your geographical position. Almost all the buttons present on that page are of no use. I still wonder what is the real use of that timer... -Camermusic : Where you can play and purchase songs made in Africa. -CamerNews : Shows news related to Cameroon. Whenever you click on a news it redirects to a web like page. I would have really prefere these news to be directly built in the app and not to be redirected to a webpage. -CamerEvents : A schedule of events in the country. -CamerVideos : a hub for afro pop music videos and other but again here you're redirected to youtube. You can upgrade the app to either Star, Hot, Ultima and VIP if you wish to. This is mainly the place where thery are going to make money out of this app. However these upgrades are just proposing you to boost you posts and pages where if you pay more you'll be able to boost a larger amount of posts and pages. It's not that bad but they'll have to propose something more interesting and useful to convice the general public, or maybe they're aiming at attracting only enterprises here. However the app is fluid not too much lag and bug except that at times it shuts down with no reasons but that is rare. It happenned to me only twice since i'm using the app. However the idea is good and I encourage the innovators behing this project to keep on improving the app. Will they be able to convince consumers to turn to Camerlife as an alternative ? For now no. The app needs a lot of ameliorations in the field of UI, performance and content to be able to better convince. However i'll continue using the app. I'm curious to see what awaits this Social Network made in Cameroon ;)
You can download the app on Android and IOS Please if you're not ok with whatever I said let me know in the comments.
