The 2017 edition of the CES (Consumer Electronic Show), the famost new technology show, the annual meeting of all the tech enthusiasts all over the world came to an end. Unfortunately for me I wasn't able to attend it (cries T_T), however I closely followed it on the web and kept track of all what (or almost) was announced and here is my list of all the tech product presented that got my interest.
Smart Table by Panasonic
This smart table is really one piece of interesting tech product. It makes me think of what we could see in all these Sci-Fi movies and OMG I've always wanted to possess one. This Smart Table presented by Panasonic is an information terminal concept that uses IoT technology to display data from various networked appliances and devices in your home in this futuristic LED display built in a modern designed table. It'll therefore act as a "hub" from which you'll be able to connect all your smart devices (smartphones, smart tv, smart light, smart video surveillance camera and all other connected devices). It also embarcks sensors that can detect when an object is placed on it and can even tell you whether it is hot or cold. Also, placing your smartphone on it, It can display your pending notifications. Interesting right ? For now I have no idea on it price or on it disponibility.
In/Visible Glass by Panasonic
This one is absolutely fantastic adding another futuristic layer to our homes. It's actually a normal glass (a glass door, a window or these kitchen cabinet with windows), BUT which can turn into a visible 1080p OLED display showing useful informations. Panasonic demonstrated it at it booth, for example a chef that appears on the display to give cooking instructions.
New-Concept Flat-Top Cooker by Panasonic
Panasonic definitely presented a lot of innovations this year all of them really interesting. In their booth where they demonstrated their vision of futur homes, we had this tabletop cooker. It's actually a normal table that adapts microwave technology. It's actually easy to use. Just arrange your ingredients on a plate and place it on the cooker embedded in the table actually represented by a dotted square. You then place the lid over the plate and the cooker automatically start. Actually each embedded cooker is independent and any person sitted on the table can "customize" it cooker to the state of it choice.
This actually is part of Panasonic's highlight of futur towns and lifestyles enabled throught the company's unique technologies. It booths was divided it 3 sections : Smart Mobility, Smart Entertainment and Smart home. Discover all of what Panasonic had presented here and part in the video above. LG's Airport Guide Robot
This is a one of a kind piece of fancy tech device. I really appreciate it. Having these robots providing us with some useful services at public places. This is what LG wants to make starting with it Airport Guide Robot. With it, you just have to feed it your boarding pass and it'll tell you all what you need to know right now concerning your travel. It includes the distance to your gate, the time it may take you go there, Your gate number, the weather to your destination as well as your boarding time.
Smart Remote by Sevenhugs
I remember when I heard people talking about universal remotes. I was really sceptical about those. However now...i'm still sceptical especially having seen this "universal" Smart Remote by Sevenhugs. This one is really impressive. It can actually control any devices or appliances in your house (over 25000 actually). Just point the remote toward the device, and your good to go. It uses bluetooth, WiFi as well as infrared. The main technology here is motion tracking and internal positioning sensors looking within the home to figure what it is pointing at. The interface adapts itself depending on what you're pointing at. Pointing at the tv displays the tv controls and display another interface if pointed on your Hi-Fi system. Also, pointing at a door helps you oder an Uber and pointing on a window gives you the weather informations. Pretty cool right.
Smart InstaView Door-in-Door by LG
What to make your home smarter. This smart fridge by LG can maybe seem useless to many people but to us techies it's just so useful. This fridge embarks an LCD display of 29 inches. This display can automatically become transparent by a double tap allowing you to see the content inside the fridge. The fridge has a lot of functionality one I like is "Smart Tag" that allows you to add stickers and to pin a list of available ingredients as well as their perish date (just as what we're doing with our fridges now but materially). You can also pin memos and to do list that'll be display directly on that screen. Also you can browse the web, look at recipes, check the weather, play music, see what's inside the fridge without having to open it, all this power with WebOS, LG's operating system. Also, Alexa, Amazon's virtual assistant is built-in this fridge and has more than 6000 functionalities among which she can act as a hub controlling all the connected devices in the home, order a taxi, set timers and many more.
Toyota Concept-i
See how driving could like from a Toyota's perspective with their Concept-i. The design of the car is really crazy. With this, Toyota wants to make driving more immersive (and not to feel confined in a car). Also with this car, they have a goal and is to make a "zero death" objective. The car can be driven autonomously or manually, with a color change, that is the car changes color depending on the driving mode. The car is powered by Toyota's AI "Yui" (yu-ee), which is designed to have a "friendly" driving experience. The car can for example talk you, if you're getting sleeply it can for example guide you towards the right direction or just take over and drive for you. Also, the car can "talk" to other drivers. For example rather than our usual turn signals it'll rather display a message saying "turning left" (or right) and many other messages like "caution", "watch out !" etc. Ah and also rather than a key the car can use your biometrics to start.
LG W-Series Wallpaper OLED
Seems like technology will never stop to impress us. LG has really innovated with this tv. Actually they call it "Wallpaper" and it really looks like a wallpaper. Actually it's an OLED panel that's so thin you'll never guess it's a tv. It's actually 2.75mm thick. It's as thin as our pencils (even thinner). It really looks like a display painted on a wall. Now concerning the display believe me it's gonna be awesome. I've actually had the chance to see this 4k OLED displays by LG at a mall in Douala and the colors are so vibrant and vivid that it's just like a window across which there's a complete different scenery. Now all the hardware goes into a soundbar by Doulby Atmos. The tv is sold with the soundbar which actually seems to be fairly advanced. Hope i'll be able to test this tv one day *-*
Wave Recycling Plates by Greenerwave
At the CES 2017, the French startup Greenerwave is proposing an innovative solution to WiFi signals reception in buildings. The plate system by Greenerwave collects the WiFi signals that circulates in a building and aggregate them before sending them to the receiver. In a building, the signal generated by a router never completely reaches the receiver thus decreasing the bandwidth we receive. But with these plates by Greenerwave will be able to collect all these signals and then focus them on a receiver (smartphone, computer etc) thus no signal is lost and our bandwidth is even increased.
Ok so this was it for my best of CES 2017 hope you've enjoyed it and that you've found it useful ;)
