Students at the faculty of industrial engineering at the University of Douala have created an application that helps to track unruly motorists on the road especially does not respecting the traffic lights. Name “Man no run” (in the local dialect), it allows with the use of a camera and a sensor to snap the licence plates of vehicles violating the red light. Concretely, says Romaric Saounde, one of the project's promoters, "when the light is red, the system is waiting for infraction. When the first vehicle passes through the first radar, it is filmed. This means that the offense is recorded, even if the system continues to be on hold. If the vehicle continues without stopping and crosses the second radar, the infraction is confirmed and a second picture is taken. It is this photo which is used to identify the number of the plate of the vehicle in violation and its owner ". Honestly this is not really an innovation as this technology has been created a couple of years back. What these students did was just to recreate it and introduce it in the country. We however salute their hard work and wish them a good continuation hoping that they'll work together with the state to fight unruly city dwellers (🙄).
