Windwos 10 is no more available as a free upgrade and you'll have to purchase it if you want it. However as promised, Microsoft has released the anniversary update of Windows 10 on Tuesday evening to celebrate the 1 year of the OS and the hundred of millions of users using the OS. This update will turn your Windows 10 version from 1511 to 1607. This anniversary update is an OTA (Over The Air) update and so it will be pushed to the users by series of waves. This means that you won't get the Anniversary Update immediately. However if you want to have this Anniversary Update now there's a solution. First you still can check if you have received the Anniversary Update so head on to the setting pannel (Windows + i), and then to the <<Update and Secutity>> menu. From there click on <<Search for Updates>>. The feature update to the Windows 10 version 1607 will be proposed and from there just start the download of the update. However, if no update shows up, there is an alternative. Below that same screen will be a <<more>> link that you'll click. This will redirect you to the Micorsoft Support website. This will allow you to directly download a program (that weight about 5.5MB) that will allow you to download and install the Anniversary Update. Note that you'll have to take in account the normal download and installation time. To my greatest surprise, this update brings some changes to the UI of Windows 10 which I think is more ergonomic especially on the notification pannel, start menu and the setting pannel. I'll let you discover that by yourselves and if you wish to know what else is brought by this update read this article I wrote about the new features brought by the Anniversary Update.
